Miguel was born prematurely with very fragile lungs. When he was 6 months old his parents chose to for him to have a trach and home vent so he could leave the hospital sooner. He is 9 months old now, and lives with his Mom, Dad, and very active older brother.

Marta: Hi, I’m Marta, and this is my husband, Tomas. We were high school sweethearts. After college we moved to the city, and now we have two beautiful boys. Our oldest is Sammy. He’s 4 years old and very active! Our baby, Miguel, is 9 months old. Miguel was born very premature and has chronic lung disease. He was in the hospital for the first 6 months of his life. We knew he wasn’t happy there, and we weren’t either, so bringing him home was our main goal. The doctor said we could do that with the trach and vent. It didn’t take us long to decide that was the right thing for Miguel. Now he is home with us, and we have learned to take care of his trach and vent.
